D3 turned five on 7/16 and we made sure to enjoy his special day without getting out of control financially. He had two parties in one day that totaled $50.00. That is unheard of in the Jones household.
Party #1 -was held in his classroom from last year and consisted of his friends. We brought his cake and the party bags for friends and that made him ecstatic.
Party #2- was held at the park (did someone say free) and a few of our friends came out to celebrate with him. We purchased cake, ice cream, drinks and party bags.
When we got in the car after party #2 D3 said, "mom and dad thank you so much for the best day ever." At that point we learned that being on a budget and living life in a simple manner is not so bad after all. We made his day and that is all we were shooting for.
Birthdays on a budget are a hit; we are looking forward to celebrating our August birthday.
